Mold doesn't have to be visible to affect how you feel. Some molds release mycotoxins, toxic compounds that can build up in the body after time in a water-damaged home, school or workplace, or through certain foods. At Living Balance Wellness, I use functional diagnostic nutrition to look for what's behind symptoms that haven't improved, and mycotoxin testing is one of the clearest ways to check whether mold may be involved.

Testing checks for the toxins mold leaves behind, even when you can't see mold where you live or work.
Mold exposure is often worth exploring when fatigue, brain fog, headaches, or sinus or digestive issues don't improve with other changes.
Your results guide nutrition and detox support that fit your body, so you aren't guessing.
Retesting after a protocol shows whether your levels are coming down.
I use urine testing from Vibrant Wellness. Depending on your history, that's either the Mycotoxins panel or the broader Total Tox Burden panel, which checks for 29 mycotoxins plus heavy metals and environmental chemicals. Mycotoxins it looks for include aflatoxin B1, ochratoxin A, gliotoxin, zearalenone and T-2 toxin. You collect the sample after a few simple prep steps, and we review your results together once they're back, usually within 2 to 3 weeks.
Mold and mycotoxin testing may be worth exploring if any of these sound familiar:
I walk you through every step. A few simple guidelines help get an accurate result:
Mold thrives wherever moisture lingers. In the Greater Boston area, older homes, finished basements and long winters indoors can trap dampness. In Austin, humidity, heavy storms and air conditioning that runs most of the year can lead to hidden leaks and condensation. Clients in both areas often don’t realize mold is a factor until testing points to it.
Many of my clients come to me for mycotoxin and heavy metal testing because of chronic fatigue, brain fog, immune issues or symptoms that haven’t been explained. These panels often reveal what routine blood work misses.
No. Mycotoxins can come from mold you can’t see, such as inside walls, under floors or in air ducts, and from some foods. Testing shows what’s in your body, not just what’s visible.
No. Mycotoxin testing uses a urine sample that you collect yourself after a few simple prep steps.
Results usually come back within 2 to 3 weeks. We review them together in a one-on-one session.
No. Some clients begin with nutrition and lifestyle support first, while others choose to start with testing.
Yes. I offer both in-person and virtual consultations for clients in the Greater Boston area, Austin and beyond.
The first step is usually a free 15-minute discovery call or an orientation session, where we can discuss your symptoms, health history and goals.
Every result comes with a one-on-one review. Together we build a step-by-step plan that may include nutrition changes, targeted supplements, detox support and practical ways to reduce exposure at home. Testing is available for clients in the Greater Boston area and Austin, TX, and virtually. I bring more than 25 years of experience in clinical nutrition and functional wellness to every client relationship.
